Resume Clinic
This three-hour session includes expert instruction on writing a powerful resume, using the resume software Winway, and lab time to work on a resume. No prior experience with resume writing is required. Participants who bring enough relevant job history and information can leave the clinic with a functional resume they have written.

Mind Your Manners
Kill them with kindness! Come and learn some basic eveyday etiquette skills to use whenever you communicate with other people. We will have books and informational sheets available for you to check out. If you are trying to get a job, this program is for you.

Take a look at some of the Resume Writing Guides that give thousands of samples to help you create your perfect resume. Interviewing Tips can make the difference between getting the interview and getting the job. Find the latest advice in books as well as informative DVDs. Technology can give you an advantage. Use our high speed connections to check job boards and post your resume. We also have all the software you need to prepare an eye-catching resume. If you need help with software or posting your resume, just ask a librarian for assistance

The Dayton Metro Library pays the fee for high quality subscription sites and then lets you use them for free.

Learning Express offers practice tests in many fields (such as Postal Service and Border Patrol) to allow job hunters to see how prepared they are.
Ferguson’s Career Database is another resource that describes more than 2000 occupations with up-to-date details.
Downloadable audio books and eBooks about jobs, careers and business.

Secure Your Future with Your Own Business

The library has a range of services to get you started as an entrepreneur. The Business Center at the Main Library has a collection of books, DVDs and audio books that cover topics important to every start-up: obtaining initial funding, developing a business plan, marketing, and more.

When starting your own business, you may want to talk to someone who has a lifetime of business success, someone who can answer your questions and give you the best chance to succeed. The Business Center introduces you to those people, counselors from SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. These retired business leaders team with the library to present small group workshops on topics such as marketing, financing, accounting and business planning. Additionally, SCORE counselors are available for one-on-one support sessions at the Main Library on the first Thursday of each month.
