 In August 1945, Japan braced for the coming invasion of the home islands by American forces. Allied planners had calculated that the ensuing fight would take millions of lives, over a million of them American, and could last until New Years Day of 1947. Reluctantly, President Truman made the decision to drop Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Emperor Hirohito quickly surrendered and the Second World war was over. Suppose not? Suppose Hirohito had been overthrown by the Military and Japan fought on? That is the intriguing premise behind this alternative history of what might have been. Weaving actual historical personages such as Harry Truman and Douglas MacArthur with fictional characters and events, author Conroy presents a completely believable (re) telling of the invasion that could have been. Highly recommended for WWII buffs and fans of the Sci-Fi genre Alternative history.
